The 3M Resin Bond Diamond Super Abrasive Wheel 637BI is a fast, free-cutting wheel developed to grind Polycrystalline Diamond (PCD), carbide, thermal spray coatings and other hard-to-grind materials. Its unique resin bond construction is designed to reduce or eliminate wheel conditioning altogether to simplify and improve processes and promote higher throughput.Breakthrough Technology: Ditch the Stick
Get faster, non-stop grinding performance — with little to no need for wheel conditioning — with 3M Resin Bond Diamond Super Abrasive Wheel 637BI for grinding PCD, carbide, thermal spray coatings and other hard-to-grind materials.
Wheel conditioning is a costly part of the grinding process when working with superabrasive grinding wheels on very hard materials. Costly in terms of time, consumables, worker safety and it generates debris in the coolant. By eliminating the use of dressing sticks, higher throughput is possible — and so is lower cost-per-part and greater worker safety.
Our fast-cutting, long-lasting, diamond superabrasive wheel has demonstrated that it can boost productivity when cutting PCD, carbide, thermal spray coatings and other hard to grind materials and change the process profoundly. 637BI was observed to grind more consistently than superabrasive wheels, without being dressed, with greater metal-removal rates and without additional motor load or amp draw.
637BI is available in a wide range of grades, shapes and sizes — from 3-inch cup wheels to 24-inch centerless grinding wheels.
3M Science. Making Work Safer, Faster, Cleaner.
When the industry believed there was no way around a problematic process, we found a way. The breakthrough technology represented by the bond in a superabrasive grinding wheel was 3M science-applied. And what is even greater than a faster and cleaner process, dollars saved by eliminating consumables, and increased throughput is the greater safety to the operators that comes with the elimination of stick dressing. This can mean reduced fatigue, reduced risk of repetitive motion injury and reduced risk of an incident that causes physical trauma.
