3M designed Scotch-Brite Light Deburring Sheet to help operators remove imperfections and burrs while maintaining part geometry. When sustaining part integrity is the rub – a lighter, softer abrasive is the remedy. When used properly, it equates to less scraps and rework.Recommended Applications
We engineered the Scotch-Brite Light Deburring Sheet with the right abrasive elements, so it would abrade workpieces with softness and finesse. It’s designed for light deburring – removal of small spurs and burrs – on a variety of metals: mild steel, stainless steel and cast and wrought iron. It differs from our Scotch-Brite Light Coating Removal Sheet in that the mineral is Very Fine (VFN) grade, making this particular abrasive a good match for light deburring and finer finishing.
Scotch-Brite Light Deburring Sheet is peppered with aluminum oxide mineral, which is a popular synthetic mineral among industrial professionals given its fast cut rate and long life. Aluminum oxide is a mineral that fragments under the heat and pressure generated by sanding wood. This characteristic is called friability and is highly desirable. As you sand, aluminum oxide renews its cutting edges constantly, staying sharp while cutting for prolonged periods. As an aluminum oxide abrasive, the Scotch-Brite Light Deburring Sheet has great versatility; it can be used on a variety of substrates.
Flexibility in Form and Function
One of the greatest attributes of the Scotch-Brite Light Deburring Sheet is that it comes in sheet form. This means it is malleable and can be tailored to fit your project needs. Some operators may opt to cut the sheet for manual use on a hand block, while others may use it on an inline sander.
The Many Benefits of Scotch-Brite Abrasives
Nonwoven technology makes our Scotch-Brite industrial abrasives unique. A combination of fiber strands, resin and abrasive mineral forms a thick, open web. The spring-like nature of the fibers responds to contours and effectively removes unwanted burrs, soils, and contaminants while maintaining the geometry of the workpiece, which in turn reduces rework and boosts productivity. Gaps in the web allow swarf to escape, so debris does not clog the mineral. Fibers in the web continually break down with use to reveal fresh mineral for exceptional consistency, superior cut performance, and extremely long service life. Scotch-Brite products may enhance productivity while reducing the need for cleaning chemicals and wire brushes. From aesthetic finishing to weld blending, deburring, and more, Scotch-Brite abrasives work fast and deliver consistent results, part after part.
